Nature's Nook

Welcome

Nature’s Nook Ltd, Charity Number SC049323 are creating an outdoor education facility near the existing Pitcairn Centre, and close to Coul reservoir, Glenrothes.

Nature’s Nook’s values of community involvement and environmental sustainability will continue the good work that Fife Coast and Countryside Trust in partnership with Balbirnie Home Farms were able to do. After the previous plantation was clear felled in 2012, the wood was restocked with a diverse mix of trees by local school children in a pilot project run by Fife Coast and Countryside Trust. Nature’s Nook are proud to continue this work educating visitors, replenishing the woodland by planting additional plants native to the area and giving access to the woods.

Groups will be able to book a Basecamp, which will give them each a 2-acre private space with warm shelter, toilets and handwashing facilities. The charity is passionate about inclusivity and breaking down the barriers that may prevent groups from accessing the outdoors as much as they would like. This includes one of the Basecamps specifically for additional support needs. Their vision is “Using woodland facilities to inspire children and adults alike to uphold a rich mental and physical wellbeing”.

A Volunteering Programme is also planned to allow the local community to develop and enjoy the site. This would include the sharing and learning of skills such as gardening or bird box building.

As well as a charity, Natures’ Nook are also a social enterprise and welcome opportunities to collaborate and support local organisations.
